While profiling the startup of QML apps on the BQ E4.5 phone (armhf) I noticed
that a significant amount of time (around 35ms) was spent solely on parsing the
XML configuration files in /etc/fonts/conf.d/
There seems to be around 40 files on Ubuntu Phone in that directory.
This behaviour is by design actually. The idea is that if the user
clicks on a window in the workspace the workspace will be activated,
zoomed in fully and the window focused. But if the user clicks on the
workspace it's only to check more closely all the windows that are on

In the case of the microphone trust prompt, it could be explained by the
fact that Pulseaudio times out and returns from pa_simple_new() after 30
seconds. Then the video recording starts with no access to the
microphone while the prompt is still shown.
In the logs of the camera app we can see:

Not being a Pulseaudio expert I am not sure it is relevant but I see the
following define in its code:
