I can assure you that a fix to this problem is not just going to slip
into a release of Firefox, or somehow be caused by some other unrelated
bug being fixed. It's a fundamental design decision with how NPAPI
works. Fixing this bug will involve changing that directly.

I guarantee, this problem (meaning the problem which this bug #78414 is
about) has existed for eleven years, since before Firefox was even
called Firefox. Please understand the problem before telling us whether
it exists or not.

Plugins can have focus (or rather a manifestation of a plugin, such as a
particular embed tag, can have focus). Links can have focus. A lot of
GUI elements within a window and on a rendered page can have focus.
