I am using an Acer Aspire 5920G.
each time I try to hibernate the PC, the video mode becomes erroneous
(some coloured garbage is displayed) and the hibernation task hangs
forever.
After that, I am forced to shut down the PC and at the next boot I have
the kernel failure repo

day, I cannot resume from hibernation and suspension even when using the
standard video drivers. Also, no error is shown.

I have installed Ubuntu 9.10 over Debian 5.0. Today I have tried with
Ubuntu 9.04 and had the same issue, so I become convinced that this was
not a problem with Ubuntu, but with my ACPI configuration (which is
anyway the default Ubuntu one).

I anyway had to change the defaukt configuration which comes with Ubuntu.

actually, I dont know how should I act in these cases, in particular, I
don't know if this can still be called a bug at all. anyway, noone
seemed to care about this problem anyway, so to me it looked like I was
the only one having this problem, which led me to think it's not a bug.

fixing this is as easy as programmatically doing what the user currently
does to rename from "folder" to "FOLDER":
- rename to "folder1" (or whatever makes the folder name unique"
- rename to "FOLDER"
