es not allow restoration of normal FF2
operation in Kubuntu 8.
FF Upstream can continue with this off line thing and
continue to lose users.

Of all the applications I use, no other application fails to stay on
line, no other application has automatic shift to off line and manual
shift to on line. MSIE never required me to select line mode, it just
loaded the file, web page or whatever I directed it to. Konqueror lacks
line mode select
amp; connect Sierra card.
WIFI is disabled usually. My symptoms are much like his.
Every thing works except Firefox.

with bug blaming other
programs for FF being off line.
No consideration seemed to be given for default on line behavior as you
desired. Why the people in control of FF would want to have the only browser
that so discourages users is beyond my understanding.

Fresh install of kubuntu 8.10 with all updates has cellular modem connected
via kppp, then
inimal attention & no errors. Kubuntu not as easy, not
automatic install, but rarely has off line problem. Debian KDE also stays on
line.

Firefox3 is now staying on line in one computer. Network Manger
has been removed. Network Manager was problematic in general. NM
would not leave ethernet port off. NM would not consistently use
only one preferred wlan port.

Have never been able to use external 1280 X 1024 Samasung 191T monitor
with Thinkpad Z61M 9450A38. Notebook display is 1280 X 800. After
Samsung install, initial display is 1280 X1024 on both screens. Reboot
fails to do Xwin. Frustration leads to new install of Kubuntu wit

9.04 sound OK. 9.10 start sound loud, then silent. This system has
Nvidia chipset + Nvidia video. Default driver is better, does 1920 X
1200, quicker. USB ports still hang system. I expect 185 Nvidia driver
to cure all that.

Used Sound Preferences repeatedly till one configuration worked. IEC958,
digital stereo input & analog stereo output worked at last but not when
initially tried. After several other configurations were tried, this
configuration was tried again & worked.
