problem with evms.
sudo aptitude remove evms
in a terminal solved the problem for me.

This is an issue with Norwegian Nynorsk as well. Many translations that
have "always" been in place, are lost after upgrades the last few days.
This applies to several programs, including basic Gnome functionality.
