If you really mean "Key to show the HUD", that would never have any
effect on the Super key. The HUD and the Dash are different; tapping
Alt brings up the HUD, tapping Super brings up the Dash.
That being said, I don't know if there's a way to disable the
Super->Dash binding in 12.04; I only have

I think this is true for any crash of the nautilus process that starts
on login, and manages the desktop window, but I want to note this for
anyone trying to match bugs to their symptoms. Until you start nautilus
again,

the desktop background. If that process crashes, the quicklist becomes
a generic one, and doesn't have the folder bookmarks. Maybe that a

than one window open, normal quitting will save your session for next
time. Close-every-window, from the quicklist Quit, leaves the last
