Binary package hint: emacs-snapshot
The emacs-snapshot package on hardy used to have xfont support. The same
package on 8.10 doesn't. I used the following elisp to set the font on
emacs:
(set-default-font "Bitstream Vera Sans Mono-12")
(set-fontset-font (frame-parameter nil
Having the same problem with Ubuntu 9;04 beta, on a Vostro 1000.

Confirmed here. Upgraded my notebook (using goubuntu instead of ubuntu-
dektop, FWIW) with "apt-get dist-upgrade". What other information can I
give?

I think that the must obvious suspect is PulseAudio, as it is new on
hardy. Have you tried to disable it and return to esd?

When trying to connect to the Session Bus using d-feet, nothing happens
on the UI, and I get this exception on the shell ("Conecção recusada":
connection refused)
