/var/run/grub/menu.lst does not exist on my system, which is likely the cause of the problem. I've also attached a backup of /boot/grub/menu.lst that I made just before the upgrade. Relevant info: I manual edited /boot/grub/menu.lst (long before the upgrade), adding a boot option with a framebuff
