So far as I'm concerned, the problem has gone away.
My Synaptic manager tells me I have 0.6.93-0buntu1 installed.
I did enable jaunty-proposed and update, and then disabled jaunty-
proposed, but I seem to have the "official" version in place. In any
event, there have been no problems since.

It has happened again! I had it solved for some time. I had found a
"panels.rdf" file in /usr/share/seamonkey and copied it to
/home/ed/.mozilla/default/.slt/ and everything worked fine
until today.
Now I get the following message on starting seamonkey:
"The sidebar is currently empty.
Changed permissions on panels.rdf to read only. Problem apparently
solved (for the moment).

I'm unaware of any problem, but the wee crash detection icon appeared.
The system seems fine, and I just checked the sound by starting
rhythmbox and ther's plenty of sound.
Possibly "the developers" can read the auto=submitted data and learn
from it.

I've had a launchpad account for a while, or I wouldn't ber commenting
here. I think the whole cloud/ubuntuOne thing may be a bit opaque to
many folk. Your tutorial page is good, but it should be a bit more
visible. Maybe in a sticky on the main Karmic forum area?
