After analysis this turns out not to be a bug, the code at the top of
get_uid calls select_getuid which calls pp_set_ovr(uid_attribute). That
macro points uid_attribute into the global config variable that lives
beyond this function call. So no need for get_uid to free it.

Hi Talat-
The bug was filed against vivid which is no longer maintained. The
original submitter had requested certain patches be back-ported to vivid
because they supposedly fixed an issue.
The requested patches were back-ported and they didn't fix the issue the
submitter purported that they fix.

Write/append for example "hr_HR UTF-8" to /etc/locale.gen and run

The locales written in /etc/locale.gen are not generated.
Upon research I've seen /usr/sbin/locale-gen script doesn't even try to
look in /etc/locale.gen
it
OK,
could you then remove locale.gen(5) man page, and fix locale-gen man
page for it, so it doesn't mention locale.gen(5)?
Users moving from Debian or other distros probably don't like hints in
man pages that don't work...
