No problem accessing OOo text documents on a different SAMBA server (no
calc documents there) so it really does seem to be a Calc-Samba issue.
The original SAMBA server was quite badly bogged down in that other
processes (eg Adobe-PDF accesses) were slow but all seems to be working
OK now. Final t

I'm running out of time here so I'm afraid since the task is sorted I
have to go out. Unless there's something from you asking otherwise I
will be rebooting Ubuntu on my return.
Thanks for all you guys do - hope I'm helping ...

If I choose a launcher icon with application running on different

Lucid seems good and solid. Have the developers done anything like
tidying up that might have cleaned out the bug? If so, I would be
comfortable closing it.

PS - I tried it at home on the Unity GUI and it was OK, which may
explain the lack of deafening complaints. It is only on the classic
GUI, which the work system reverted to because the hardware was not
capable enough.

Pretty much the same on XP-SP3 with 256Mb RAM.
Seems to be a when-to-get-a-new-page issue. If I print preview it at

Confirmed in all three environments.

nobody shows any interest in its present state I'll put it back in

OK - I have just tried Lucid and discovered the promote - demote buttons

Going back to my bug report - my (intuitive to me) method still doesn't
work on Lucid.
Going back to the original software version the results are the same -
it does work now that I know how to work it!
Oops - misunderstanding ...
The problem appeared - possibly as a result of a recent update. It
affected the output from xrandr, and that, or some other effect of the
problem meant I had an effectively unusable system.
I have seen the same effect before on earlier versions - and had to
