This should help a little:
I can confirm that this is a problem in rootstock, not just inside qemu or
qemu/kvm.
Reproducible on host system.

@Ricardo Salveti
Ok, I am going to get a release candidate for 10.10 Meerkat, install it
and try to rootstock ubuntu-netbook for lucid from there. I will inform
this log of my progress.

An alternative to 'killall -9 drempels' would be to Alt-F to
another terminal, log in, and send this command:
killall gnome-screensaver
Still doesn't fix the issue, obviously its just a work-around.

Well, I am considering working around by never using and mono packages
in any ARM build of anything. I will collect the packages at least for
the dependencies of ubuntu-netbook, and filter out anything that depends
on mono. It seems that mono breaks ubuntu on ALL ARM PLATFORMS. Also,

I was working with a qualcomm snapdragon when not in qemu. So what you
are saying is that this is just one of those crazy coincidences, that
this install routine breaks at the same places in the qemu vm as well as
on the actual snapdragon?

As well, just finished a successful running 'apt-get install' as '--no-

This is just an issue with mono, apparently does not appear on omap
boards. This will appear on a physical machine as well as virtual, I
have so far successfully rootstock ubuntu-minimal (meerkat) and used
apt-get install --no-install-recommends ubuntu-netbook to build thus

the mono-package installs before submitting to this tracker again.
Thank you for the feedback.
