If you disable compiz, ubuntu is usable, not so beautifull... but
working...

Disabling compiz effects:
'System' > 'Preferences' > 'Appearance' (I'm not sure bcause I'm using an
spanish version :) )
Instead in shell: 'gnome-appearance-properties'
Then you can go to 'Visual Effects' and the first option 'Disabla' or
'None'.
This is not going to solve de 20-30% or more of
As I said in other bugtrack, i have the same issue. If someone needs
some log or othes stuff... please contact.

I have the same problem as beer. My PC config is Semprom 2400+, 1GB RAM
DDR400, ATI Radeon 9600 AGP. I've Installed the same in my laptop and
all is ok but in my PC the Xorg problem is present.
With ubuntu 'fresh' (recent installed) it only happens with firefox
(without any plug-in or add-on).
If
I'm sure that's not only an nvidia bug cause I'm using ATI card.

Like Martin Lindhe said, this option:
Instead of using LABEL=xx, specify disk with /dev/disk/by-label/xx
For UUID=xx it is /dev/disk/by-uuid/xx
solves my problem. But only in local places bcause I'm mounting sshfs
systems on my server and them appears dupplicated.
