Same issue here. Here is my context:
$ fglrxinfo
display: :0 screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: AMD Radeon HD 6350
OpenGL version string: 4.1.11005 Compatibility Profile Context
$ lspci| grep -i radeon
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies

I tried that:
sudo ./ati-driver-installer-11-9-x86.x86_64.run
But I get this:
[Error]A previous installation of fglrx driver detected to be loaded.
User must uninstall existing fglrx driver
or run install with force option.
Forcing the installation is not recommended.
I also tried to run
I reinstalled grub-efi on my desktop to fix it.
I had to use the LiveCD. It wasn't fun.
Is there a documented work around?
