avahi daemon uses a lot of CPU when network is not availiable

Hi. Yes, I understand this isn't too helpful, but I have no idea what
else I can tell about this bug. It happens every time when system boots
up with wi-fi switched off and ethernet cable is physically
disconnected. It's 100% reproducible.
Here is my /etc/network/interfaces file

Stephen, I don't think this is the same problem. I have compiz running without
any problems and my CPU usage is normal.
Now that is interesting. I just discovered that the same binary driver works
FINE on a previous Gutsy kernel (2.6.22-14).
I am adding Interpid kernel to the affected packages.
Seems to be fixed by the latest network-manager upgrade.

Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: firefox
I'm currently trying the second alpha of ubuntu 8.10, and firefox seems to
crash often with it. I don't know yet, what is causing the crash, the
candidates are the flash plugin, xorg or nvidia proprietary driver.

I have this bug too.
When zd1211rw module is loaded, I have a eth1 interface. I can configure it
freely, but I cannot establish a conection.
Switching to ndiswrapper driver helps: I get a wlan0 interface and the
connection works (at least in 802.11b mode).
Dmesg output is attached.

Yes, it is still an issue in 8.10.
