I do not see this problem on a kernel built from the latest Linaro TI
3.2 sources using the default config file. The error sounds like a
configuration error, or possibly a problem in the underlying hardware
event support which has been patched over time.
If you are intent on continuing with a 3.2
A fresh build of 3.4 from the origin/tilt-3.4 tracking branch also
works.

I found the magic sauce for getting the PMU event counters working in
recent upstream code. On the 4460 the EMU clock has to be forced on. A
patch for this, and for missing PMU/CTI interrupt mods is being applied
to our 3.4 branch now. With this it will be possible to build a kernel
with hardware
What Andy said. We chose timer mode in lieu of enabling hardware
counters, since the hardware is broken.

Title:
Perf test fails on Pandaboard (
If perf is to work properly with the PMU counters we have to unrevert
the revert of the PMU interrupt code commit. I have a commit to do this
(to put the slightly refactored code back actually) queued up for the
tilt repo.
This code was originally reverted due to some people seeing a hang on
boot
A fix for this is currently being reviewed. It involves changes to both
u-boot and linaro-media-create. When in place we can remove the
disabling of the last 1/4GB from our Panda .dts file.

With DT present I see the regions described in the .dtb file being
properly excluded. So now the problem is that just under 3/4 of
available RAM is visible, when we should be able to see all except the
48MB set aside just below the 1/2G boundary (which is used by other
processor(s) on the SoC).

The u-boot fdt_highmem change has been taken into the upstream pool.
After some discussion it seems agreed an additional change is desired to
also allow u-boot to auto-relocate fdt and initrd data to a new (lowmem)
location for booting. That change will be independent of this one.
