OK, it is a big issue, since USA layout gets added on each boot.
Maybe it was happening before the update too, but I did not notice due

After the mentioned update there were nmoreupdates detected by Update Manager.
I installed them and now the grub.cfg again has the correct hd1 entry and sdb1.
But it still does not boot each time.
The problem is, that there are 3 "scsi" devices: sda, sdb and sdc.
And the naming is not determinis

This is something that worked for decades just fine.

I attach the dmesg output in a case where it did not boot.
As can be seen , the Maxtor 160GB drive got the name sdb and sda was
assigned to the 500 GB WDC, which is the opposite of the working
configuration.
The D:\ubuntu folder is on the WDC.

- I have USA and Slovenian layouts
- the login screen uses US
- after login the indicator at the panel shows Svn (short for Slovenian), but
the effective layout is US
Sometimes, after a while it changes by itself to be actually Slovenian.
Or I can switch

After reboot, the login screen still uses US layout.
After login, the active and indicated layout is USA.
So it was added again.
One more quirk:
If I click the indicator icon (which says USA), the opened menu has "Slovenia"
marked as selected, not "USA".

The desktop comes up in 1024x768 instead of the monitor resolution of
1680x1050.

I removed the needs-upstream-testing tag as I don't think installing custom
kernels is possible to Live environment.

line.
