The files manager app does not show any trace of the CD. If I moust it

when after installation the reboot is done, the shutdown scripts is waiting for
a press of ENTER key, but the text saying so is not visible (see screenshot).

I just ran the daily build (see below) and the live CD can be ejected by the
hardware eject button.
A CD inserted in the second CD drive is mounted and it's hardware eject button
disabled.
So it can be done, just is not for the live CD medium.

I teseted again. When brasero is started from a terminal window, the the old

I inserted a written DVD+RW , right clicked its icon on desktop and selected
"Blank Disc...".
In the dialog where the "Fast blanking" option was preselected, I clicked the
"Blank" button.
After one minute of DVD unit activity the disc was ejected and immediately

I burned some files to a DVD+RW media (why does it eject after burning?
Burners don't need that for 10 years now).
After that, when I insert this DVD+RW, the DVD icon disappears from
nautilus.
If I start brasero like you suggested and go to the Tools/Blank... menu,
the dialog that appears claims

I burned a DVD+RW.
After that, when that DVD is inserted, the DVD unit icon disappears from
nautilus Computer view.
Reproducible on another PC (using live boot of Ubuntu 11-04)

OK, I rebooted to Windows, blanked the DVD+RW, burned some new content
to it, rebooted back to Ubuntu and run again:
brasero --brasero-burn-debug --brasero-media-debug &> brasero-debug.txt2
And selected Blank... in the menu.
The resulting file is attached.
