Today I experienced this: after suspending the laptop, now I do not experience
broken rendering anymore.
This happened once before. Everytime I reboot, it comes back.

I've made a picture as screenrecord/screenshot can't cath the problem.
As you can see the render is still on "General" despite "Extensions" being the
current selection.
You can see at the top part of the rendering is restarted and is now stuck in
the middle.

Ubuntu on Wayland has same behavior, but worst.
Video attached shows open a new tab with CTRL+T and the new tab not being
rendered until I create a new.
Then I remove both, I create a new one, not rendered, and got rendered only
when the mouse is moved.

I've recently upgraded to latest Lenovo Yoga S940, with Intel Core 7 10th gen.
With Focal Fossa, both audio and mic worked properly until a few days ago.
Now *sometimes* it loads with dummy audio and no mic at all.
Now it loaded with only audio and no mic.
It really seem random to me now.

happens to me as well, on XPS 13 - 2013. Ubuntu always loaded before the
"second dot" became orange. Now it fills up 15 dots before loading the login
screen, and happened after upgrading 4.4 -> 4.8.

well, I do not rembemer using ccsm with this Ubuntu installation that
happen in 2013 (you can check in the original bug report).
I did play with it in the past, when ccsm and compiz were new, but was like

I make it work using comment #123 solution, just the alsa-base.conf
modification, did not install any backported module.

15.10 has this very frequently. With 15.04 was less frequent. I
experience this all the time after resume but sometimes also after a

maybe i have some old settings that is causing the problem? I am upgrading this
since 13.04.
What should I check?
FYI, the controls fo change brightness works in the sense that I see the bar
changing on the screen from minimum to maximum and back. But the brightness
does not change a bit.

I've installed 14.04 this morning and there's no kernel upgrade available.
keyboard backlight is ok, is screen brightness that is stuck on minimum and
cannot be changed...

I do not understand what you mean saying "it's not a bug".
I do install Ubuntu. There are no icons in menus --> bug.
The fact I did knew a workaround that worked in previous releases and does not
work anymore does not change the fact I have an issue with the system.

I see two issues here: first there is no clear way to indicate a default
Input device for audio I/O. Second, Ubuntu should automatically switch
to default device when it's plugged in.

I've performed the #11 solution, having a 64 bit installation, and put the
.java.policy file in my user home but I still have same issue: audio device is
not accessible.
