I have a gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg version 0.10.6.2-1ubuntu2 on Jaunty and
there's missing ffenc_mpeg4 (MPEG-4 part 2 encoder). gst-inspect shows,
that there is only a corresponding decoder (ffdec_mpeg4).
It's also not detected by gst-ins

Why do you claim it's tagged as upstream? I can see it's not. I have
only marked this as bug in Ubuntu packages and don't even see if anyone
else made it look like upstream bug.

The same problem still exist with packages from feisty (dasher-data and
dasher 4.4.1-0ubuntu1), however I can at least really type at all, while
on 4.6.0 even this is impossible.
Some other persons confirmed that problem exist also for 4.6.0 in Gentoo
(compiling with gcc 4.2.3) and Debian Lenny:

When trying to change alphabet to polish, Dasher (4.6.0-0ubuntu1) shows
a progress bar ("Please wait, Trainig Dasher"), but when it's full, the

I had the same effect with Dapper. Not only the partition table was
dead, but also the partition filsystem was broken: I couldn't find NTFS
partition using gpart and TestDisk rescue tools, which greps through the
disc searching for the characteristic partition start patterns.

It's probably not that the aperture size is too small - when I changed
it in BIOS to 16 MB, X still tried to allocate 8 MB and failed.

I don't think so - I've tried to stop GDM, unload radeon driver and then
load it again, but it didn't change the aperture behavior.
Moreover, when I choose the aperture value in BIOS according to what X
detected, everything was right without mangling with radeon/gart kernel
drivers loading order.

Not starting (silently) when
I've tried with polish language in 10.04 beta1 ISO, but still no luck -
all elements are in english, except the date and ubiquity installation
icon name on the desktop.
Installed languages panel shows that polish has neither the
"translations" nor the "spellchecking and writing aids" components. I

I had crashing problems under 10.10 too, but with newest code from
repository it works with no such problems. We need probably newer
packages right now - even if they would be not perfect, they are at
least perfectly usable.

The same in 0.7.3 from git source - all these dialogs do the same for me
when executing as a simple user. But when I log in as a root, no
closing-window freezeing appears!

What OCR engine did you used for this? Did you add -l option to the
settings (in case of German it should be "-l deu" for Tesseract and "-l
grm" for CuneiForm)? I think this was your problem.
