Affects me to. I deselected a development ppa and now I am not able to
downgrade any package with current synaptic version.
I installed the older version 0.63.1ubuntu3 of synaptic with dpkg which works
for me.

I think this will require a newer smbios version.
So I've build successful a new libsmbios (2.2.19-0ubuntu1) and a new
firmware-addon-dell (2.2.1-0ubuntu2).

This -S switch is not the problem - libvirt will manage the running
qemu/kvm instances, and this is used for this.
What kernel are you running? The newer libvirt requires a kernel with some more
enabled cgroups parameters.
Ubuntu's kernel has enabled this since 2.6.32-5.6. So please try this with
libvirt 0.7.5 wil run qemu/kvm hypervisor as user libvirt-qemu group libvirtd.
so add user libvirt-qemu to group kvm to make qemu use of kvm. The same vor
kqemu.
In next release libvirt >=0.7.5-2ubuntu0~dnjl1) this is automatically done in
postinst.

On my system, a Dell X300 with 82852/855GM, this release produces many more
lockups. Now it's really really unstable.
Last version (2:2.9.1-3ubuntu1) also lockups sometimes, but not so many times.

As I mentioned in post 102 i've build a default lucid kernel 2.6.32-22.33 with
applied patches of Daniel Vetter (v8).
This will be found now here: https://launchpad.net/~dnjl/+archive/kernel
On my machines this works well for weeks without the need to install any more
experimental stuff like drm-
Any lucid kernel update will supersed it. Also updates without
containing this fix. So be careful!
