How is this not a bug? If the user has the panel then workspace
dimensions work properly. However, if it's removed then all workspaces
are 'flattened' (ie, Ubuntu forgets the rows attribute). My issue isn't
that it's reverted when re-adding the component (though that's not good)

the screen. They're usually hidden (due to the top menu bar) but they're

The number of workspace columns is lost (reverted to one) if the "Workspace
Switcher" is removed from the panel. Here's the steps to reproduce:
1. Add workspace switcher to panel (right click on pane > "Add to panel..." >

Sorry, haven't had time to check a live boot but as mentioned this seems to
be an application issue. It doesn't manifest on boot and it always occurs
under the following conditions:
- Running VLC
- Running IcePodder
- Browsing to certain sites (like GMail) in Firefox, but not for others

fails. In other words to reproduce simply:
- open two Thunar windows
- select a file and copy (ctrl+c)
- in the other window try to paste - the shortcut (ctrl+v) doesn't work but
