Actually, this should be specifically a request for 1.5.5-1, as that is
the latest Debian/Ubuntu package. Ubuntu Intrepid never had the source

Finally, success. Using the source packages from Debian unstable (LyX
1.5.5-1), I was able to build an 8.04 package for 64-bit with Prevu, an
automated backporting utility: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Prevu
A side note, LyX 1.5.5-1 in Debian unstable was released yesterday (May
14), so it has not yet
I just checked, and it is not possible to install the Debian unstable
(Sid) binary package for LyX without modification, because of a
dependency-- libboost-filesystem1.34.1. So the prevu way is the
solution, as it will modify the package's dependencies for Ubuntu.

I have the exact same problem. I have an ATI X800 graphics card and AMD
Athlon64 X2, and X won't start. I have tried Ubuntu 5.10 PC, Ubuntu 5.10
64-bit, Kubuntu 6.06 PC, and Kubuntu 6.06 64-bit.
Ubuntu 5.10 gives the error while Kubuntu 6.06 just hangs right before

I'm not to sure if this will solve anything, but I'll give it a shot.
I have an AMD Athlon64 processor and PCI-E ATI Radeon X800. Using Kubuntu 6.06
64-bit (not 6.10) Live CD, I get a similar problem (though I tested and got the
same problem with Kubuntu 6.06 32-bit). Right before KDE should load
I use Kubuntu 6.10 64-bit and I don't get this error when I booted using
Kubuntu 6.10 64-bit DVD in my AMD Athlon64 and PCI-E ATI Radeon X800.
However, after a few times booting, I got the same bug when I upgraded
from 6.06 to 6.10 (that was not a fresh install). But now I've installed
6.10 freshly

This bug caused by the update of OpenOffice.org to 1:2.3.0-1ubuntu5.3 on
December 4, 2007, because this bug did not exist previously. I will test
with version 1:2.3.0-1ubuntu5 of OpenOffice.org and report back.

the problem, and I still have the same issue (although I did not have

The problem appears to have disappeared.

I know that it will not make it for the 8.04 release, but maybe the new
package could be placed in hardy-updates as it is a bugfix release for
Wesnoth. Otherwise, it could be backported to Ubuntu 8.04 when synced in
Intrepid.

release for the wesnoth package that is included in Ubuntu at version
1:1.4-1 (same 1.4 branch). It is not a binary-only package, a source
