The external monitor works properly in Classic Desktop, no effect.
However... by simply pressing any key, the configuration switches to the
next available one! Luckily enough, this happens only once. So for
instance if you would like external monitor alone, you have to toggle
until netbook monitor
As a matter of fact the bug does not happen with Ubuntu classic, no
effect.

By running system-config-printer everything works. So it is not a
problem of cups.
Still considering it as a bug of the desktop environment. I cannot
indicate a specific package, though.
