Sorry for the multiple comments, but I forgot to mention that the .deb
packages I uploaded do not install an initrd by default. You should run
sudo update-initramfs -c -k 2.6.36-rc5 after installing them, and then
edit /boot/grub/grub.cfg accordingly (look for the menuentry 'Ubuntu,
with Linux 2.6.
For me, 300 ms and 500 ms didn't work, so I increased the delays to a very long
time like 900 ms to see if it would help at all. It works now and I'm happy
with it, but maybe 600ms would have been enough.
I'm also interested in finding out if other people have the same results with
this patch.
I'm also affected (Dell Latitude E6510), so far none of the workarounds
worked for me at all. Can this bug be reopened or should we open a new
one?

The basic problem reported here has indeed been fixed, drm-intel-next
now succesfully boots to X. Resuming from suspend is broken for me, too,
I haven't tried the shutdown menu options yet though.

flicker I experience

One of the recent gmail updates broke the 404 full text functionality. This is
fixed in the latest svn version, which you can install by running sudo
checkgmail -update . This update will fix the issue but reintroduce the
background color problem, so here's a patch against the new svn version.

considered as a proper solution so I don't think we will see it in

I tried both suggestions:
1) Plugging in the cable after switching to VT1: the system freezes and the
screen goes black, even without switching back to X
2) Plugging in the cable, running `sleep 30; xrandr -q` and then switching to
VT1: screen goes black almost immediately, before the 30 seconds
I got netconsole up and running, I'm attaching the log. I think these
might be the most interesting lines:

According to Carlos Parra Camargo, the drm-intel-next kernel 2.6.35-997
from the mainline PPA solves this issue. This kernel, however, works
only under maverick. Under lucid, it gives a blank screen on boot so I
have not been able to test this yet. I might upgrade to Maverick this

Are you sure this is for intel gpu's, and not nvidia? Nouveau sounds a
lot like nvidia to me, this bug is specific to intel integrated
graphics. Nvidia chipsets have other issues I believe.

gnome-session-binary[1676]: Unrecoverable failure in require
Same here. Unty freezes when moving a window from workspace to workspace
while being grabbed by the title bar. Grabbing the window in the middle
does not freeze the computer.

The init script for PHP5-FPM doesn't handle restarts correctly. When you
restart an active PHP5-FPM process, it'll sometimes shutdown the old
process, but the new process won't spawn any children and handle
