When I "Brows..." or "Upload a File" in firefox, the process is
absolutely incredibly slow, hogging up large amounts of system
processing power. I am not sure if this is a firefox or a Gnome issue--I

To clarify, the process still works, but uses almost all of my system
resources, dragging along painfully slow. This ocurrs whenever I use a
"Upload or a Browse" command, and I think it may be a natalius problem
because otherwise firefox seems to work fine.

After using gedit, I can confirm that this is definitely a problem with
the gtk file chooser.
What command did you use to run valgrind? I can do the same, with a
little guidance. :)

The entire process is slow. I will click the upload button, then it will
take awhile to load, very slow, maybe a minute or so. Then choosing
directories is even slower 1-3 minutes, and it locks up firefox and uses
about 90% of my system resources. then clicking the file will take

I can confirm this. My keyboard and mouse work on the LiveCD and the
Grub menu and recovery root shell, but not in gnome. I will try
installing gnome to fix this problem, will report back.

I cannot confirm the workaround because my school requires a proxy
connection to the internet, and I'm not sure how to do it by shell.

I can confirm this bug still persists while using just the above steps
(linux-restricted-modules upgrade&update manager) however, this might be
related to my problems with xserver-xorg-input-all.

Alberto: My problems have been traced to a problem with another package
and a corruption in one of my files. False alarm sorry. Dist-upgrades
probably won't work for me, because there is a trange xorg-input-all bug
going on, but I will try a CD installation later in the week.

Under the latest Kubuntu, fully up to date, Firefox uses a massive
amount of system resources, far above normal. According to sysmonitor,
it us using about 1GB of ram and 16% of the processor.
To compare, Konquerer only uses about 8% of my proces
1) This happens usually only when a reboot is required, I havent seen it
happen otherwise.
2)One popup appears, repeatedly, over and over again. Strangely enough
though, it appears in the top left of the screen, instead of the bottom
right.
3)Sometimes I clack the popup, or wait for it to fade, b

balloon right now because there is no new kernel image or the like.

I am running Gutsy Beta, Toshiba Tecra Laptop. The people at OOoForums
said that "Ubuntu ships a modified OpenOffice.org with bugs, so get the
mainstream version instead." However, the mainstream version does not
work for me either. Is this an OOo problem or a Ubuntu Problem?

Alright, this is strange. I Installed the mainstream version and it
didn't work so I uninstalled and then reinstalled Ubuntu's OOo through
Synaptic. Now it works, but the colors have changed from white to grey.
Format seems to work now, but the box now takes up the entire screen.

files (AAC, no DRM) now I get a no demux plugin spit back out at me. I
have tried purging and reinstalling

Automount for Amarok no longer works, at least for iPods, Amarok no
