I used the command 'sudo apt-get install --reinstall xubuntu-desktop

Nothing more to offer other than it takes about 3 to 4 times of shutting
down with the cursor in the upper right corner of the start up screen
and either try shutdown or restart to get back on to log in to put my
password in with the little dots.

On opening up xubuntu 14.04 the cursor/pointer arrow freezes/locks up on
mewhen trying to put my password in on the logong window. Sometimes it
unfreezes but most of the time I'm locked onto that screen and I must do
a 'hard crash', aka shutdown the computer with the on/off button, I
don't like do

I have been trying to upgrade 14.04 and I keep getting this error message in
the terminal - it's the release upgrad
This is not a fresh install but a re-install of 14,04. This bug showed
up on numerous upgrades that's why I did a re-install hoping that would
rectify the problem, it didn't so thats why you got this report.

What does this mean your 'Changed in status report?
Just curious since I sent this report in a week or so ago and I did what
Manfred said to do, it seems all is working fairly fine, a few hiccups
but start up, logon, seems to be okay. nothing else seems wrong at this
moment. your Status says C

This is not a fresh install, I do my daily ypdate/upgrade/distupgrade
every day and this install is at least 2 weeks old, so I believe you
have a bug in the following, plus the output told me to file a bug

Still having start-up issue, it still freezes, ie the cursor/arrow in
the little 'lightdm' window where it's asking for my password. I had to
try 4 times today at 15:10 PM 3/23/14. This install is not a fresh
install, roughly two weeks old and that was a re-install of this
