Not any longer for me. I've fought with it too long without any true fix
and have since abandoned Ubuntu 12.02 for Linux Mint 13 with zero
problems.

I'm also having a similar complete freeze, no mouse movement. Fresh
install 12.04 32bit is freezing every so often. Was watching a video
earlier, noticed the curser was no longer moving for me then the video

About the kernel fix in #91, by looking at the names aren't those particular
ones targeted for AMD ? Per the "amd64.deb" in the name ?
I need to do something, this is getting ridiculous, it's not freezing right now
only cause I'm stuck in 2d, won't even start 3d :-/

I'm adding an update to my previous post, system has froze 5 times this morning
and I have part of a log file from the incidents. Every freeze shows the same
entries and can not access terminal through ctrl+alt+f2...

I've trying to do some lite work today fixing my conkys that got messed up from
stupidly installing 12.04 and had a freeze every 5-8 minutes for 2 hours, it
won't be long and I'll have to replace my reset button o.O I should have stayed
with 11.04.
Was using gedit and viewing my home folder only
@Trevor Bradley ..I'm not so sure the Nvidia drivers have much to do
with it, I am running 2 monitors and they are a "no go" with Nvidia. I
have to use the open source drivers cause the one's from Nvidia will
white screen one monitor and the cursor turns to an x.

I agree, 3d may be the issue. I have a Nvidia graphics card I'm running
from and have been testing on 2d for 2 days now, I haven't been able to
reproduce the freeze. Although I can't stand the 2d environment, it is
stable so far, not one problem. Hopefully some developers notice this

Hi Daniel, I've actually tried several builds of the Nvidia drivers up to and
including the newest releases. I never had any problems with them in
Ubuntu11.04 but in 12.04 one monitor goes white and the cursor on that screen

week. They work now o.O
And oddly enough, so far it hasn't froze in 3d, I usually able to force a
freeze within 10 minutes. I will keep pushing it to see if I can force it
again. If not maybe this is indeed a Nouveau
Mark, can you use the latest Nvidia drivers ? For the longest time
Nvidia drivers were problem after problem but they have since fixed them
and now work flawlessly, I haven't had a freeze since installing their
latest.

Good evening Daniel, I've pushed my system pretty hard running videos on both
monitors while recording video from my hd webcam and every other thing I could
think of and have had not one glitch since the new Nvidia drivers.
Definitely a Nouveau issue.

For those with dedicated Nvidia GC's, Nvidia has apparently fixed their
drivers. I couldn't use them previously due to lack of multiple monitor support
but they now work, which solved the constant hard freezes for me instantly.
I've been pushing it running videos on both screens while recording

Unfortunately the kernel in #117 is a no go for me. I installed it, was
watching an HD video and installed Compiz Setting Manager. When I was looking
through Compiz it hard froze. SoI'm back to 2d :(

Tryin to think of the possibilities, how would it be a hardware issue as
this a pretty wide range of hardware ? Mine and many others have all new
hardware. That would kinda suck. I just got a bunch of updates so I'm
gonna try 3d again tonight. If it keeps freezing I will create a bug

Well yeah, but Ubuntu without Unity and Compiz and it is stable. I had
constant freezes with 12.04 64bit with Intel processor. Freezes
persisted with every fix until I changed the kernal. Then with
subsiquent updates from Ubuntu not matching the kernal I eventually had
other little issues, nothing
