So, I downloaded the complete i386-DVD of Karmic.
After installation of it an updated kernel I installed the Broadcom 802.11
Linux STA wireless driver and the wifi works fine now.
With the new installation I have changed my file system to ext4 now and
it works great. A little benefit for the trou
