This is not very well explained, but I have the exact same problem after
upgrading to 14.04 LTS this morning.
I will try to go into more detail about the bug:

drivers then rebooting, then re-installing nvidia proprietary drivers -

Okay, the fix for this is to disable FXAA antialiasing in nvidia-
settings.
In the terminal, type:
nvidia-settings
Then a control panel will open.
Uncheck the FXAA Antialiasing box.

I don't know if people are still having this problem, but the only way I
have found that works is using 'synclient'
At the shell type the following (ignore the '$' obviously):
$ syncilent
this will bring up all of the parameters in a long list. The ones you
want start with 'RightButtonArea'. By
