Happy to report that the headphone jack now works just fine on my Toshi.
Was fixed in Intrepid and remains working in Jaunty. It should be noted
that those of you who were experiencing the problem weren't actually
getting "no sound" from the jack, but instead the output was set to
digital (spdif)

I suspect that what is happening here isn't that there's *no* sound
coming out of the jack, but rather the jack is switched to digital mode.
Has anyone tried connecting their Toshi to the SPDIF input of a home
theater amplifier, or some other device with a digital input?

Toshiba p100 Conexant
Bug confirmed here as well; running a Toshiba P105-S6147. Some of you
are probably running the DSDT that I built and posted to
http://uncensored.citadel.org/pub/linux/dsdt-p105-s6147.tar.gz earlier
this year. That was built and installed under Feisty and it worked
perfectly. I upgraded to Gutsy
+1 vote for this bug. It is exhibiting the same behavior on my system
and it is frustrating.

Public bug reported:
This bug is present in both 11.04 and 11.10 versions of Ubuntu. Each
version contains a package called "Unity" which seems to disable the
usable desktop and replaces it with something that looks like a broken
smartphone. Ubuntu will remain unusable until this bug is removed.
Canonical (and Mark S. in particular) are openly hostile towards the
vast majority of Ubuntu users who have a strong dislike for Unity and
want it removed, or at least made optional.
Many of us are now, or will soon be, ex-Ubuntu users.
Ubuntu has really jumped the shark with this one. Apple can
Everyone please upvote Bug 886305, which states clearly that Unity is a
show-stopping bug that MUST be fixed before Bug 1 can be fixed.
