This happens to both my desktop computer (nvidia card) and my netbook (hp mini
1000 with an intel card).
Deactivating compiz effects is a workaround.

After installing Jaunty, I cannot access my cdrom drive from nautilus or any
other way.
I cannot mount it manually and 'cdrecord -scanbus' returns 'no found media'. I
cannot eject it either using the push-button on it.

On my HP Mini 1000, removing any dimming option in the gnome-power-

better that ffmpeg2theora would be in recommends because the scripts wouldn't
work otherwise but you pointed out we can't so I changed the debdiff and moved

I confirm what cocoknight said. It worked fine in Ubuntu 8.10 using the
8.10 lpia alternate iso and then installing ubuntu-desktop (just needed
to change some volumes in the mixers).
Here's what I tried so far, with NO SUCCESS:
- "options snd-hda-intel model=ref" to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
I tried it too but it didn't work for me, I don't know why. Anyway I switched
back to intrepid.

I tried to hibernate but the laptop turned off, I think, because when I turned
it on, it went through grub and all that... Didn't see any errors though.
Note that I only have 400mb swap but the used memory was around 200mb when I
tried that.
