Nautilus displays a message saying that it's not valid unicode. That's
ok, but not very helpful. Instead, I'would prefer a possibility to
specify the charset.

My Version: Ubuntu 7.10
I'm not the network administrator, but I assume that there is:
- a samba fileserver accessible through smb for windows/linux/mac
- a ssh-server mounting the samba-filesystem and making it accessible through
sftp.
What I did:
- Connect to the ssh-server using the "connect

I'm seeing the same problem - from updates in the last week ... suddenly
the volume is extremely low. I'll dig around to see if I can find the
cause.

Unloading psmouse works (I've added it on halt and reboot scripts), I
haven't installed feisty yet, so I can't check with kernel 2.6.20-14. (Then

I don't have Feisty installed. My version is 0.4.1-2. SHA1 is now ok. But
Fibonacci returns 0.00, and the program silently crashes (no bug report)
when attempting to get any device information. Maybe this is a new bug. It's

On a fresh Ubuntu 6.10 installation, network-manager-gnome said he
couldn't come up because there are parts missing it relies on. I removed
and reinstalled network-manager-gnome but that changed nothing. As I

pushing the power button for 5 secs) the laptop (HP nx6325) boots up a lot

It happened again when I forgot about switch-user triggering this bug,
but this time the end of my Xorg.0.log file says :

I don't have two screens so can't reproduce a crash that way. Apart from
the user-switcher app causing the crash, the only other time I've seen
it is after a normal (first user) logout - when X re-initializes it
just hangs using 100% CPU before the gdm login window appears.

I had this problem but I seem to have fixed it by doing the following:
1) removed the blacklisted pc speaker module from the
/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf file by commenting out the line
#blacklist pcspkr.
Then after a reboot (though I guess "sudo modprobe pcspkr" would work),

I've been having this weird problem ever since upgrading to Lucid -
which was some months ago now - and wonder if anyone has seen similar
behaviour or even knows of a solution.
As I am the sole user of my desktop at work, I always leave the computer
