Dave Airlie's patch (mentioned in #85) fixes this problem on my Dell
Latitude E6510 (i7-620M Arrandale/Ironlake). I applied it to the
upstream 2.6.34 kernel and am running it on an otherwise vanilla fully-
updated Lucid.

I have the same machine as Francisco, the submitter. I have tested the
upstream kernel 2.6.34 and verified that the bug is still present. Then I
applied this patch to the upstream kernel:

and verified that it fixes the bug.
After discussing this with Francisco, I removed the needs-upstream-
testing tag.
