I can confirm this behavior in Ubuntu 8.10, Evolution 2.24.3. It seems

I can confirm that this is still the case in the Jaunty Alpha 4 install.
The message appeared around 75%, but a decent amount of time remained in
the install (didn't clock it, but at least 5-10 minutes).

After only a little hassle, I was able to boot the live cd using
i915.modeset=1, install, adjust grub on boot to boot, and then add in
i915.modeset=1 to grub permanently. It would be nice if it grabbed it
automatically from the live cd boot settings, but that's for another
bug.

Not sure about upstream, but I'm pretty sure it's been broken in Ubuntu
since at least 9.04.

It's been a while since I've looked at this. The download speed
presented is not consistent with downloading files off a CD. (Also, how
is it getting 943M from a 700M CD? (perhaps compression, but I doubt
it))
Now it could be a wording issue, but 130kB/s is fairly consistent with
the T1 connection
