Timed game, time running out.

I can confirm this bug. I'm using a RolandED UA-30 external with no
internal card. The card doesn't work at all in firefox or other software
which assumes alsa's default, and I've only gotten it working in mplayer
by specifying the card in ~/.mplayer/config.

and I still have the same issue with ALSA apps. Used to build my own
kernels and found this issue any time OSS emulation was enabled with
ALSAnot sure what brainiac decided that OSS emulation should be

without the ability to commit).

I have confirmed that gnome only crashes when compiz is enabled. So with
KWin, perhaps it is some of the compositing code that is causing the
problem. Not sure, but wanted to report that not using compiz does stop
the gnome crash.

I have no idea if this problem still occurs with 8.10. I was using 32 bit at

2) Disable AMD cool & quiet in my BIOS
Neither worked, computer still locking up when syncing my iPod. Thought

quiet in my BIOS, when the computer froze, I did _not_ see the NVRM in

Guessnet used to work on my laptop, but is now hanging.
I execute:
sudo guessnet-ifupdown --debug
The output is:
guessnet: program name is guessnet-ifupdown: enabling ifupdown mode
Then it sits there with no response. CTRL+C successfully abort

Attempting to run "ubuntu-bug -p package" (I was trying to report on
guessnet, but the package does not matter), the dialog comes up saying
that data is being collected and then I get a dialog:

I've noticed this behavior on my ThinkPad X60.
* Volume control via the panel icon works.
* Volume control via the hotkeys works.
* These two methods of volume control behave as separate volume control systems
in series, eg. if either system is muted, all sound is muted.
