The "nomodeset" parameter is only used when booting into recovery mode.
When NOT booting into recovery mode, without the "nomodeset" parameter,
it looks like about one in every 10 bootups succeeds and runs in a

it in a stable state, after the computer was booted in recovery mode.
When booting the computer normally, I have not yet had a situation that
allowed me to have it working long enough for a bug report to be

Sorry for the delay - something very weird happened.
On April 29, the system hanged in the "Black screen with Lenovo and
Ubuntu on both monitors" phase. I then hard-reset the machine (as usual)
and generated the log file as instructed by you. It is attached to this
