For the past 14 months nobody cared about this bug, and obviously nobody
tried to reproduce this bug on his system.
So why should I put any effort in checking if the bug is still there? It would
be major effort for me to reproduce this bug.
And - as far as I can see - the only result would be tha
Okay, let me apologize first for my last post sounding too accusing.
Of course nearly all Linux developers are unpaid volunteers, and I can't expect
that anybody spends his leisure time on reproducing my problems.
I just had the impression that Hewus asked me carelessly to put a lot of effort

I see exactly the same behavior as reported by wofritz.
The system settings and krandr are completely useless in this scenario.
grandr helps a little bit, but it doesn't allow me dragging a display to the
right or to the left.
It seems to me that there are a number of bugs to be fixed before usin
In my case, I have to configure both displays in the xorg.conf, and then
the "desktop" is on the wrong screen (the same bug as wofritz
describes).
Without modifying xorg.conf, both screens display the same desktop, and
neither xrandr nor grandr allow me to virtually place the screens side
by side
For some the freeze may also be unrelated to the video driver:
there is another bug report that talks about a similar behavior:

@bassl: can this also be used for my FSJ AMILO Xi 1554 notebook?
If not, what are the steps to create my own fixed *.dsl file for the Xi1554?
And how do I apply the *.dsl file to my system?
Thanks in advance!

I have the same problem with VLC in Feisty Fawn.
It seems to be the same as reported in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/vlc/+bug/103025
The workaround is to change VLC to use OSS instead of ALSA.
But it should definitely be fixed, so that ALSA support works fine with VLC.

I have the same problem with vlc on feisty beta on my notebook FSJ AMILO Xi

My ALSA sound module is snd-hda-intel with model ALC882/ALC885.
I'd consider setting the VLC audio output to OSS a work-around, not a fix or
solution.
It would be great if this could be fixed for the release of Fei

Public bug reported:
I'm using Kubuntu 7.04 Beta1 on a FSJ AMILO Xi 1554 notebook (Core 2 Duo T7200,

My notebook has two 160 GB harddisks.
I created an LVM volume group that includes both harddisks.
Then I created logical volumes for my root and home par

Unfortunately I never had to create a backtrace on Linux before, so I don't

Do you have a short list of steps to take or something like a wiki page that

mountall assertion failure breaks boot process
I upgraded the plymouth packages and got back to version 2.14 of mountall and
everything runs fine now. I tried re-booting three times and had no problems
(before the bug occurred with every boot).
So I can confirm that this bug is fixed for me.
Thanks a lot, Steve, for getting this fixed so fast
Hi Luke,
sorry for the late answer; I couldn't find time for this earlier.
Now I'd like to test your fix, but the latest version I can find on the Ubuntu

Maybe I'm too stupid to use a PPA...

Thans a lot, Øyvind, you made my day.
When booting with "radeon.modeset=0" there is no problem with crackling sound.
So this seems to be a bug with KMS...
At least now I have a workaround until this bug is really fixed.
Thanks again!
