I can no longer verify this as I have been using a different printer
model that only has one tray for a while now.

Upon completing a fresh install of Ubuntu saucy 13.10 and installing

Same problem here on an X220t. Added to that I can't get *any* custom
shortcuts to work. As a simple example I tried binding xterm to either
the F-keys, other "normal" key combinations or the special rotation keys
on the X220t. Not a single one worked.

For me this is not just an evince problem but whenever I print to my HP
OfficeJet K550 dtn via Ubuntu 12.04 it cuts off the top of A4 sized PDFs
(or Xournal files for that matter) and completely ignores the "shrink
to" or "fit to" printable area options in the print dialog.

After the upgrade from 12.04 to 12.10 media source selection is ignored
while printing. On my HP OfficeJet K550 dtn I have two trays, the
printer options set Tray 2 as the default tray. Still, while printing
from Ubuntu the printer always tries to get the paper from Tray 1.

Considering this a bug here as well. How can a desktop environment
depend on a social network client? Gwibber is one of the first things I
delete on every installation because I just don't need it so why should
I have it installed?

A couple hours ago I had some read errors on my harddrive and was forced
to reinstall ubuntu as it refused to boot properly. The reported problem
dematerialized in the process so I am not sure whether it had something
to do with my harddrive or the upgrade procedure from lucid to maverick.

Same here on a Lenovo X301 with a built in GSM card. The pin is saved in
the network connection and if I cancel the pin request after login I can
still connect. So even though everything seems to be in order, after
every login the window asking me to enter my pin pops up.
