Is there any progress on this issue? Really, espeak is unusable in ubuntu jaunty. As i noted above, in alpha6 this issue didn't exist, so we can just downgrade to previous portaudio ubuntu package. Also, why this bug isn't noted in jaunty's release notes? -- espeak sound doesn't play correctly h

Hi edgar, The actual portaudio bug in question exists, you found just a workaround: compile espeak with pulseaudio backend instead of portaudio backend. You've got a working espeak, but portaudio still doesn't work correctly. You can test it with other programs, which use portaudio for sound outpu
