I'm currently using Dapper (xubuntu). In the System Menu, I can see a
Login Window item. I selected that, and in the Accessibility tab there's
a Sounds section where you can disable the sound. To lower the volume,
you may use any volume control app but what I usually use is aumix.

I checked my ~/.ssh/known_hosts file and everything is "garbled". I

I'm sorry I only realized this now. The method that was mentioned in the
forum required building a driver from source. Upgrading the kernel would
break the module IIRC, more so if there was an ABI bump.

Hi,
rubygems is only available as a .deb in Feisty. For Edgy (6.10) and
lower, you can try installing rubygems manually.
It's not that Ubuntu is unwilling to use rubygems, it's probably just
because it's only recently that it was made available in Debian and
synced in Ubuntu.
I hope this helps.
I can confirm this on Edgy...

I'm not sure why that file breaks the examples, though. Also, the
tomcat5.5 version in edgy is 5.5.17 while in feisty, it's 5.5.20. The
existence of this bug on feisty is yet to be verified.
