I tried hardy 20080125.
The system uses gij instead of sun-java by default.
I wasn't able to reproduce the bug using this gij java virtual machine and the
installation of sun-java6 fails.
So it wasn't possible to check the bug in the same conditions.

I've just verified it in Debian lenny using VirtualBox.
The spell checking works perfectly in Debian lenny with kile 1:1.9.3-4, but it
doesn't work in Ubuntu 7.10 gutsy with the same version of kile.
Then I think this is an Ubuntu-related bug.

Yes, the Italian translation in Gnome is correct, but the dpkg database status
is broken, making impossible to install other software via apt.
This bug seems to affect all the language packs (look at bug #205440).
