I tried to install the driver provided by Dell (for 12.02) but it gave
an error during the installation. I also removed the blacklist entry for
i2c-hid, reboot and it started working, I didn't know which one worked,
now I know thanks to you .

I had the same problem two week ago.
I think it's related to the key shortcuts unity chooses, disabling the
shortcuts solves the problem for me:
1 --> Switch to a virtual terminal (CTrl+Alt+F1) and log in.
2 --> type "DISPLAY=:0.0 ccsm"
3 --> Switch to ccsm (CTrl+Alt+F7 probably)
4 --> Disable th
Unity was unable to start when booting so I had to disable all key
bindings, using a terminal, in order to disable key bindings and get
unity to work.
