I just installed the current intrepid-desktop-i386 on my Asus Eee 900.
To enable wireless, I had to comment "blacklist ath5k" and uncomment
"blacklist ath_pci" in /etc/modprobe.d/madwifi and reboot.
So far, I couldn't notice any wireless slowdowns compared to other
operating systems.

Also: the reported paging behaviour of firefox has ended. All I did
different: I installed firefox-2, run it for a bit (half-broken, since
add-ons are apparently shared), and then run again firefox-3 --now
without paging episode
This looks like the problem Garth fixed, where the waveform summaries
were being repainted from a non-GUI thread. Should be fixed in SVN and
beta3, when it's released later this week.

Who is the maintainer of the ImageJ package in ubuntu? If that's Onkar,
please note Fiji: Fiji is Just ImageJ (batteries included) aims at
trivial installation of ImageJ with a collection of open source plugins
integrated. A debian package exists.

Same situation here, for both:
* Thinkpad T60p with an ATI FireGL 5200
* desktop intel core 2 extreme with an ATI 512Mb that also uses fglrx
No direct rendering when using gnome (glxinfo direct rendering: No) but
I get proper direct rendering when not using gnome, but some other

I have solved the problem: in the upgrade from gutsy to hardy, for some
reason the package linux-restricted-modules was NOT installed.
So:
sudo apt-get install linux-restricted-modules
sudo /etc/init.d/gdm stop
sudo modprobe -r fglrx
sudo modprobe fglrx
sudo /etc/init.d/gdm/start
