I have the same behavior -- blink on bootup, showing the last messages
from /etc/init.d/scripts, and then the login window with autologin not
working.
This is on an EeePC 900 with an Intel 915GM/GMS/910GML running Intrepid.

When I add a printer using "system-config-printer.py" (system - administration
- printing - new), it asks me for a root password instead of a sudo password.
Work-around: in a shell window, set a root password using "sudo pas
run button" applet
on my top gnome panel so I can click it and do a quick "killall
audacious". At this point, the log jam clears and everything is back to
normal.
Very annoying behavior, but glad to have found a work-around.

I can confirm the extremely slow performance using the calendar. I
usually have about 10 "resources" (calendars: one for personal, one for
work, one for kids, etc) open. When I turn one on or off, it takes a

I noticed today after leaving the view on "week" for a long time, the
week view became the blank one, and the multi-week one updated properly.
So perhaps this bug has more to do with keeping the same view for a long
time (like overnight).
As a sanity, I plan to remove my entire $HOME/.thunderbird
Interested if others have found a work-around to get the application
windows to show up again.
Even more interested in a proper fix.

in question has been wiped and reinstalled with a different distro. I

Upgraded my server from Lucid to Maverick. Encountered several small errors
during the upgrade of gallery2, and was left with a pretty botched
installation. I ended up installing gallery2 from a tarball, outside of the
normal packaging process.

This seems to be two separate issues: (1) the missing files/directories
that needed to be mkdir'ed & touched before the upgrade would proceed
(2) the somewhat destructive upgrade that orphaned all of my existing
photos. They may be related, or not. #1 is an annoyance. But #2 is
the one that driv

The update caught be by surprise. I should have known better, though...
if my config file had not been modified by me or my Virtuozzo provider,
then I would not have been asked whether or not I wanted the new change.

On my system, it never even starts... it used to go into text mode and
print some message on the screen about saving the snapshot... now it
does not do anything.
If I run "sudo strace s2disk", it gets stuck at open("/dev/snapshot",
O_RDONLY).

I am using gnome, and the compizconfig-settings-manager. The "ring
switcher" and "shift switcher" do not show the window titles, either,
even though the "show window title" checkbox is clicked. So maybe the
problem is somewhere below the actual component that is doing the alt-
tab switching, and
Omer P., that was it... I enabled the "text" plugin and it works.
So it looks like my problem is unrelated to the original poster's alt-
tab problem.

No, gnome power manager starts when the gksudo-like password prompt pops
up. It does not happen during the apt-get download phase.
If I do 'apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade' from a shell, gnome
power manager does not start up.
The problem does not seem to be related to the actual upgrading
intensity, over-riding what I have set it to at the moment. However, if
I update my packages, gnome-power-manager starts up anyway. It seems a
little odd that these two are related.
A clumsy work-around: "sudo chmod -x /usr/bin/gnome-power-manager"
