in my java5 application looks empty if gnome-desktop is set with "Normal

My comment was not clear I guess. I too have no problems with suspend,
it's just the hibernate that causes problems.

On my Dell 700m running Edgy Eft hibernate doesn't work. From either the
logout screen or the gnome-power-manager when I try to hibernate, I get
back the unlock screen without any info.

I started experiencing this hang after I upgraded from Kubuntu 13.04 to
13.10 yesterday (both 64 bit).
The freeze usually happens when I try to context switch between windows
running Firefox or between Firefox/Thunderbird windows. It also happens
