Note that my system had Kubuntu 6.06 installed and working before re-
installing WinXp on the 3rd partition (20GB). Even though the partition
structure is the same, I cannot convince grub or XOSL to boot the linux
partition, hence a new install.

The install machine already is partitioned and has a working copy of ubuntu
6.06 server-type install on it. I didn't change the partitions but was going to
install on the existing root without formatting.

Thanks for the feedback Gary. In the end i used the text based installer
that worked fine.
