I've attached the text I get from the crash handler when running

Lucid has the 4:4.3.95 packages, how about a backport?

The dependency issues that prevent the Lucid version from being used
directly on Karmic appear to be mostly cosmetic.
dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of python-kde4:
I've forced the installation of the Lucid package mentioned above and I
now have working python plasma widgets and apport-bug works again.
