I experience this exact behavior, including the mysterious lack of
backtrace/error messages in /var/log/Xorg.0.log after the crash, on my
ThinkPad X200 with Intel GM45 video.

Binary package hint: hdapsd
A new upstream version of the hdapsd hard drive active protection
daemon for IBM/Lenovo ThinkPads is available. It is a substantial
rewrite of the previous version, and I've packaged it and am in the

Binary package hint: emacs-snapshot
Anti-aliasing for Xft fonts does not work in emacs-snapshot (version

Bugs,
This is still a regression from hardy. People (like me, and, I dare
suggest, most emacs users) using Xft fonts in Emacs will find them
broken when they upgrade.

Binary package hint: gvfs-bin
In Hardy, I could use gvfs-mount -u as a normal user logged in at the
console to unmount my USB flash drive so that I could remove it without
having to bring up Nautilus and go through the menus. In Intrepid, this
fails with the rather cryptic er
Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gnutls-bin
In Intrepid, gnutls-cli is stricter about certificate checking than it
was in Hardy, and the manpage doesn't mention the flag to turn this
behavior off ("--insecure"), though `gnutls-cli --help' does. It would
probably be a good idea to update

This also affects Haswell and I assume Ivy Bridge. I confirm that the

rest of gvfs's backends, but doesn't install them. I've attached a
