I can confirm this bug on ubuntu 8.10 i386.
During startup it hangs and then I can see "Starting NFS common utilities
[fail]" "Starting NFS kernel daemon [fail]". Everything else (like portmap,
cups, ...) is starting with [OK]. About three minutes later the Gnome Desktop

Hehe, Kiran we can shame both on us.
At this morning I thought that maybe my change in /etc/network/interfaces
belongs to the nfs problem. And it was so.
I have involuntarily removed "iface lo inet loopback" from interfaces. Changing
it back as you can see following solved the NFS problem.

So I have tested it again a few times and after the kernel panic I
restarted and copied the syslog.
I have tried linux-backports-modules-hardy-generic - didn't change
anything.
The attached 4 crashes were when I was at home having no programs runing
and beeing connected to my wep encrypted wlan.
After testing it with my notebook (Acer 5610 with core duo and Intel PRO
Wireless 3945ABG) a few times I can say that the crashes are caused by wlan.
Installing "linux-backports.modules-intrepid-generic" didn't fix it.

Sorry for writing you back so late but I didn't managed installing
linux-image-2.6.27.
But today I am using Ubuntu 8.10 amd64 (2.6.27-7-generic) and the bug is fixed!
After starting ubuntu the sound just works. No more need to adjust volume. :-)

today I started the notebook with empty battery booting from xubuntu 9.04 and
it really worked. So I copied the xorg.log and restarted just to test if it
really works again, but it hanged during booting...
When it hangs during booting I even can't switch to strg+alt+f1 console.

Two days ago I tested a few thing (ndiswrapper, wicd, iwl3945 options,
hardy-backports etc.) many hours late at night and I even found a solution
which works sometimes (before that it NEVER works):
There must be a bug with network-manager - try wicd instead and your wireless
will work better.
Is there a solution or workaround for this bug yet?
I need to use my wireless card and don't know how (with Ubuntu 8.04).

I can definitively say that it does not depend on wheter the router use

problem:
When hearing an MP3/OGG which is loud and having Rhythmbox's volume
control set loud causes snaps.
Setting the volume control the avoids the problem - but this is not a
solution.

Network-manager almost worked well (only one bug with wpa hotspot) but today
the latest update brought a very buggy version of network-manager.

I can confirm this bug on my Dell Vostro V131 notebook with all latest Update.
Ubuntu 12.04 amd64.
Device: "Laptop_Integrated_Webcam_HD(/dev/video0)"
Taking pictures is impossible. But video works just fine, also the effects are
funny.

Hi,
I have got another problem with pidgin. I can't exit it. I can close the
window, I can also rightclick in the launcher and click on "quit". But it is
still running in the background.
The only way to kill it is through System-Monitor or "killall pidgin".

Hi guys,
it is still impossible to connect to the internet through mobile with
networkmanager. But connecting with wvdial works just fine.
The mobile is a Motorola V3xx and the provider ist austria - drei. It is
connected via. USB but
